Day 2= chocolate!

So today has been a gloomy day. I woke up this morning and looked out my window to see fog, fog, and more fog. I get out of school and find out that the fog turned to snow, and realized it was gonna be a day where I would have to stay inside. What goes great with bundling up inside on a cold day watching a movie? Hot chocolate! I didn't want hot chocolate though because let's face it, it's easy to make up. So I decided that I wanted some chocolate candy, but I didn't want to drive all the way to the store, and I wanted to "do something" new for the day so I decided I would try and make a fudgy chocolate-y snack all from scratch (and from my noggin). I would have followed a recipe but I didn't want a whole pans worth. I got out all the supplies I thought I'd need and put them in a pot to start heating up.

The smells of cocoa filled the kitchen, and my mouth was watering. I go to take a taste of it, and it not only burned my mouth because I was a little to eager to let it cool all the way, but I noticed it had a very odd after taste. It tasted burnt, and kinda like mud.

My mom then brought it to my attention that there is a reason we have a double boiler. Chocolate can apparently burn, just in case you wanna try this on your own. So take 2!

I stuck the chocolate, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla (good for that whole healthy lifestyle, huh? Oh well, tomorrow is a new day) into the double boiler and started on melting the sucker up. This time I let the stuff cool, and I go to take a taste and I'm gonna have to say two things.

First: Fudge is probably something I'll have to buy from the store from now on.
and Second: If you do try to make something from scratch, I suggest a recipe.

Edison was quoted as saying "I have not failed 1,000 times. I have
successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb."

So the optimist in me has to say...

I haven't failed 2 times. I have successfully discovered 2 ways to NOT make fudge.

Day 1=feeding ducks

So since I've laid in bed all day feeling sick, I figured I should get dressed and start my little "Do Something" goal. So I got some bread and since it was getting late I would have to drive because it would be a 2 mile walk. I go outside totally stoked (image numero uno), and find my mom parked her truck behind me and I unfortunately can't drive stick so I decided I would have to walk. So I started walking. Then I kept getting honks. I swear, it's like people have never seen someone walking alone with a bag of bread in their hands! (pic #2) So it took a while, but I finally got there and i was super excited, except it was starting to get dark, but I was still excited. (picture 3)

So I started feeding them, and I'm pretty sure the Layton City Council put something in the water because these ducks were vicious! I mean I bring em food and they were hissing at me, and I almost got chased by one. Some of them even sounded like the T-Rex from Jurassic park. It was INSANE! It was so much fun though, and I decided I should head out because it was getting to be extremely dark. So I ended up calling my mom and having her pick me up. (picture 4) I felt slightly embarrassed standing on the curb with an empty sack in my hand across from the high school because despite me being like a 5 year old at heart, I'm not...

If you ever have a moment to spare, I suggest feeding some ducks. It makes you feel good, and if you really wanna feel good; walk, because exercise releases endorphins!

The Start

I started a blog thinking that one day I'd look back on the many posts, and the amazing comments left by the millions of people that stumbled across this site. (Yah, I have my priorities straight. Haha) I had hopes and dreams, and I was determined that I would live my life to the fullest. I was going to make each day an adventure that I would find worthy to share.

Unfortunately I forgot about this blog. It has sat here untouched for nearly a year, and I have to ask myself if I've honestly accomplished anything, or is it that I tend to overlook all of the accomplishments I have made. Either way, I've gotten into a rut, and maybe this rut was the reason I pushed this blog to the back of my mind, and now I remember it because I want to do something worth blogging about.

So many things have happened to me in the past year that have led me to this point in life where I am constantly looking at the negative. I've put my foot in my mouth and hurt a friendship, I've put myself in stupid situations that got me hurt, and I've hurt others that I care deeply about. I lost contact with old friends, and am so afraid to put myself out there that I've avoided new friendships. Because of my negativity I looked at these things as punishments, instead of looking at them as lessons learned. See, there's a positive in everything! Positive things happen everyday and I need to stop and take the time to see them. So this year it's going to be the opposite!

Think of this as my late New Years resolution!

I've decided that from this moment on I will live each day. Each day I will do something new. It can be something simple and mediocre, or it can be something incredible and totally out there, but the point is, is that I'm going to do something with my life. I'm going to have those life adventures and blog about it like I originally planned. So cyber world, welcome to my life. Come along with me on this journey. I know it will be a good one, and you never know; If you're reading this, maybe it will encourage you to live your life to the fullest to!

Why settle, when you can do anything you set your mind to?
